3 Players Who Were Not Selected In India’s T20 World Cup Squad Because Of Poor Performance In Asia Cup 2022

Date:

The BCCI selection committee announced India’s T20 World Cup 2022  squad on Monday, September 12. Rohit Sharma will lead the 15-member squad with Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel making a comeback to the squad. Some of the players who were in the T20 World Cup last year have been ignored this year. Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami is added to the reserves alongside Shreyas Iyer and Deepak Chahar.

Australia is the venue and host of the tournament. They are also the defending champions of the tournament. Last year. Australia won the title of T20 WC 2021 after defeating New Zealand in the final. Australia won their first-ever title in the tournament.

India’s T20 World Cup squad is almost the same as the Asia Cup squad that was announced. Ravindra Jadeja is a big miss in the side. However, the return of Bumrah and Harshal evens up.

Another big news is Mohammed Shami not finding a spot in the main squad. He is among the reserves along with Ravi Bishnoi, Shreyas Iyer and Deepak Chahar. Chahar and Bishnoi were a part of the main squad in the Asia Cup but is among the reserves for the T20 World Cup.

Avesh was one of three pacers originally picked in India’s Asia Cup squad. However, after the first two games, he fell ill and did not play any of the super 4 games for India. His untimely illness meant that India played with just two regular seamers for the majority of the Asia Cup. As it turned out, there was extra pressure on both the seamers to perform and Bhuvneshwar Kumar with all his experience conceded costly runs in the 19th overs against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The losses meant India faced a Super 4 exit from the tournament.
