Chelsea are confident of winning the race to sign Dean Huijsen after presenting a convincing seven-year contract offer, according to a report.
The Blues are the side pushing the hardest for the signature of the Spain international as they feel he could be the ideal long-term partner for Levi Colwill at the heart of their defence.
Last week, it was reported that Chelsea had managed to secure buy-in from the player after outlining their project and the important role he would play for them going forward.
The Blues, it was claimed, were also ready to ‘outbid’ his other suitors, chiefly Liverpool, with their contract offer, proposing a lucrative deal that nevertheless fits their incentive-driven wage structure.
Chelsea offer seven-year deal
TEAMtalk has now provided an update on the situation and reports that Chelsea are growing increasingly confident of winning the race for Huijsen after formally presenting their seven-year contract offer to the 20-year-old.
Talks are only focused on the player’s side as Huijsen has a €60 million release clause that Chelsea will trigger once they have agreed terms with him, thus bypassing the need to negotiate with Bournemouth.

Chelsea have made a convincing pitch to Huijsen and his family, and the relationship between the two parties is said to be excellent. The West London club are desperate to add the Amsterdam-born centre-back to their side before the Club World Cup.
The only concerns Chelsea appear to have now are Real Madrid – Huijsen’s dream destination – activating their pursuit or missing out on Champions League football, which could give Liverpool a big advantage.
