Real Madrid have made a definitive decision over the future of Dean Huijsen following reports that Chelsea are ready to offer the Spain international defender a massive contract.

A number of clubs are scrambling to sign the in-form 20-year-old centre-back, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that Liverpool and Arsenal, as well as Real Madrid and Chelsea, are interested in the former Juventus star.

There had been doubt over whether Real Madrid were ready to meet the player’s €60 million release clause but football transfer news expert Ben Jacobs says that this scenario is looking increasingly likely.

Taking to X, he reports: “Real Madrid are seriously considering triggering the £50m release clause of Dean Huijsen.

“Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea are all prepared to pay it. All three wanted a quick deal to avoid Real entering the race.

“Incoming Real boss Xabi Alonso has already identified Huijsen as a priority target, and Huijsen is keen on the move to Madrid.

“Sources close to Huijsen claim his release clause can be paid in instalments.

“All three EPL clubs are still in the mix but Real are now confident. Liverpool are believed to be Huijsen’s preferred Premier League choice.”

Chelsea drop huge contract offer

Romano previously claimed that Huijsen’s dream is to move to Real Madrid, so if this bid does come to fruition, Los Blancos look heavy favourites to land the player, despite a bumper contract offer from Chelsea.

The Blues are willing to offer Huijsen a higher salary than he would get at the Bernabeu, AS reports, yet it is equally claimed that this will not be enough to steer the in-form defender away from the side that will be coached by Xabi Alonso next season.

Alonso is said to have personally requested the signing of Huijsen, and it appears that Real Madrid are making his wish come true.
