Crystal Palace will reportedly reject Newcastle United’s fourth offer for England defender Marc Guehi.

Newcastle’s latest bid was an initial fee of €70.4 million, plus a further €5.9m in potential add-ons, but it will be turned down by Palace, according to The Daily Mail.

Steve Parish reportedly wants a guaranteed sum of at least €75m, with additional bonuses taking the fee closer to €82m.

As a result, Newcastle are now contemplating moving onto alternative targets, despite the fact that Guehi is their first-choice option.

AC Milan’s Malick Thiaw has been linked with a move to St James’ Park in recent weeks, while Martin Keown believes Newcastle should look at other options.

He told talkSPORT: “I do think he’s a very good player. [But] I think there are limits. And I’m just wondering, this bravado – you know, there’s going to have to be a limit to what they can pay.

“I think they should step away at this point.”

If the Magpies opt against submitting a fresh bid for the Crystal Palace defender, it will come as crushing news to Chelsea.

Chelsea suffer Marc Guehi blow

When Chelsea sold Guehi to Crystal Palace in 2021, they included a 20% sell-on clause in the deal.

Therefore, the Blues are in line to earn a significant chunk of money if the England international moves to St James’ Park this summer.

In fact, if Palace accept Newcastle’s latest offer and add-ons are included, Chelsea would receive over €15m.

With the Blues currently negotiating moves for Joao Felix and Victor Osimhen, an additional €15m in their back pocket would be extremely useful. However, Palace are set to reject Newcastle’s latest offer, which means Chelsea are unlikely to be rewarded with a large pay-check this summer.

Guehi’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at just €38m and although he is vitally important to Crystal Palace and Oliver Glasner, the Eagles are set to reject an offer worth double his ETV.
