Jets reach agreement with holdout Haason Reddick

The New York Jets have reportedly ended their holdout with elite pass rusher Haason Reddick.

Reddick is expected to be with the team on Monday morning following Sunday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to ESPN.

The disgruntled outside linebacker was traded to the Jets in the offseason, but has not suited up for gang green since launching his holdout during training camp.

Reddick does not have the long-term deal he seeks, but for the moment, he is expected to play the remainder of the season.

‘We will continue to work towards a long term (sic) extension with the Jets,’ Reddick’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told ESPN.

Rosenhaus was hired this week by Reddick, who recently parted ways with another agency.

It was less than a week ago that the Jets reportedly decided to allow Reddick and his new agent, Rosenhaus, to seek a trade, according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini.

Reddick was traded to the Jets during the offseason with the belief that a new contract would come with the move, but he is yet to get anything over the line.

The 30-year-old is said to be forfeiting around $800,000 for every game he misses , given he was due to make $14.25million this season.

In total, he has already missed out on over $9m, made up of various fines for skipping practice and training camps, as well as his game checks.

Earlier this month Reddick was dumped by his agency CAA, which had stood firm on his no-pay, no-play stance.

However, Jets owner Woody Johnson recently revealed that he hopes a change in leadership will convince him otherwise.

The Jets parted ways with head coach Robert Saleh following last week’s loss to the Vikings in London, and defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich has since dropped his first game as interim head coach.

‘I hope that the young man can come to the team. We’d like to have Haason here,’ Johnson said.

‘We’d welcome him with open arms. I will extend that. And I haven’t talked to Jeff, but I think he would feel exactly the same way.’
