Marcus Rashford continues to be a player on Manchester United’s transfer list after a fallout with head coach Ruben Amorim, and now the England star has made a decision that could define his career.
Rashford, who spent the second half of last term on loan at Aston Villa, is poised to make a “huge effort” to sign for Barcelona, despite the Catalans closing in on a deal that will see Nico Williams sign for them from Athletic Club.
Sport reports that the 27-year-old attacker’s priority is “far from his hometown”, with the forward willing to take a massive pay cut to join the Blaugrana this summer, with Rashford of the belief that he would fit into Hansi Flick’s system smoothly
Potential stumbling block
Even if Rashford is willing to move to Camp Nou, there is a major question over whether Barcelona will be able to afford him.
The Catalan side are juggling their books just to sign top priority Nico Williams, and with Fabrizio Romano revealing that they are also interested in signing Copenhagen teen sensation Roony Bardghji, it is unlikely that Rashford will be a priority for their extended budget.
Man Utd are set to demand €40 million for the winger yet his agent believes that this figure could be knocked down as low as €30m.
To this end, Rashford would be a smart signing for Barcelona. His Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) is €53.6m, while it has been consistently above €50m since July 2019.
He represents excellent value for money but with Barcelona’s budget stretched, it would be a surprise if they were to make a move for a player in a position in which they are already supremely well stocked.
