Chelsea have held new ‘positive’ talks with Borussia Dortmund over Jamie Gittens, but the Bundesliga side are fielding fresh interest from other suitors, according to a report.

The saga surrounding the England youth international continues. Chelsea attempted to sign Gittens in the initial Club World Cup transfer window, but had two bids rejected by Borussia Dortmund.

Talks with Chelsea have continued in the US, with Gittens still keen on a move to Stamford Bridge after agreeing a seven-year deal with the Blues. On Tuesday, it was reported that a deal is now ‘imminent,’ but there has still been no confirmation of an agreement.

Gittens talks continue as new suitors emerge

According to Sky Germany, Chelsea and Dortmund engaged in fresh talks on Wednesday, and the atmosphere has been described as positive. However, there is still no sign of a deal being struck.

It is claimed that Dortmund continue to insist on their €65 million asking price, which is the same fee they demanded when Chelsea first came calling – and which Chelsea had no intention of paying.

Intriguingly, the report adds that word coming out of Dortmund is that ‘several’ new suitors are showing interest, although this may ultimately just be a negotiating tactic to put pressure on Chelsea to finally cough up the money.

It is unlikely that Chelsea will panic over Gittens as they know that the player has his heart set on joining them. Bayern Munich recently made contact with the player’s camp, but nothing more has developed on that front, and no talks have been held with Dortmund.
