Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has emerged as a dream signing target for Premier League giants Liverpool and Arsenal.

Rumours of an enormous transfer have been circulating even before the transfer window opened. The Anfield giants are even reportedly willing to break their transfer record – set earlier this summer when Florian Wirtz was signed from Bayer Leverkusen – to sign the forward.

Isak is under contract at Newcastle only until 2027, putting some doubt on whether his long-term future remains at St James’ Park. His suitors, though, have been told that they may need to be patient.

“Champions League qualification makes it significantly easier for Newcastle to keep hold of Alexander Isak. He has three years left on his contract and the club are in a strong position to hold firm and keep him this summer,” Sky Sports News expert Keith Downie explained.

“Isak himself will be more satisfied knowing he’ll be playing in the Champions League if he stays – that was an issue last summer.”

Ambitious Isak has his eyes open

Liverpool and Arsenal have been given some cause for optimism, though. There is a sense that Isak might not be pushing for a transfer at the moment, but that time could soon come.

“I do feel the Swede sees another move for himself in the future, though, and that might be something we see next summer if they fail to come to an agreement on a new deal,” it was explained.

“Isak knows he can earn more elsewhere, and he’s ambitious. Whether his ambitions can be met at Newcastle remains to be seen, but I do expect at least one more season at St James’ Park.

“Like Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon, he will want to see the club act this summer, though. They need help.”

Isak has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €117.5 million, though it will take considerably more for Newcastle to agree a deal.
