Aston Villa are among the sides continuing to track Jamie Gittens after his breakout campaign for Dortmund this year, with a summer transfer potentially on the cards.

Gittens has made 11 starts in the Bundesliga this season, scoring five goals and providing three assists, and the English star has become an integral part of the team at left wing.

The 20-year-old is the latest star to leave England for Germany and achieve success, having also seen the likes of Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham also enjoy monumental rises at Dortmund in the past.

Gittens left Manchester City for Dortmund in 2020 and has made more than 60 appearances for Marco Rose’s side, with his progress leading to interest from a number of teams in the Premier League.

According to CaughtOffside, Villa ‘like’ Gittens and are seeking to sign a natural inside forward to play on the left, having deployed the likes of John McGinn and Morgan Rogers there so far this season.

Bayern Munich are also credited with an interest in Gittens, while the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal have closely monitored the England under-21 international, who could be on the move in the summer.

Dortmund likely to cash in on Gittens

Despite being contracted until 2028, Dortmund are expecting to see Gittens be a major sale in the coming seasons due to the interest surrounding him.

Having been among the top spenders in the Premier League in recent years, Villa will likely be a frontrunner for Gittens’ signature when the time does come for him to leave.

However, Villa’s constant battle with PSR could require them to sell before they can buy, having already cashed in on summer signing Jadon Philogene this month, with the youngster joining Ipswich for a fee in excess of €20 million.

While it is unclear how much Dortmund will demand for Gittens, some reports have claimed that the youngster could cost as much as €100m, although such a fee would prove unfeasible for Villa.
