Cristhian Mosquera has made it clear where he sees his future as Arsenal try to sign the Spain U21 international centre-back from Valencia.

Mikel Arteta’s side have roared into contention to sign the 21-year-old, having an initial bid for the player rejected by the La Liga side.

Mosquera took less than 24 hours to turn down his side’s offer of a three-year contract extension, which acted as a last-ditch effort to retain a player whose current deal expires in 2026.

Meanwhile, he has already agreed personal terms with Arsenal on a deal that is thought to be larger than the one he has been offered to stay in Spain.

His initial plan had been to remain with Valencia, where he came through the academy, but a delay of a month in receiving an offer from the club has allowed the Gunners to swoop in to take him to North London.

Considered a similar player to starting centre-backs William Saliba and Gabriel, Mosquera is confident that the volume of games the North London club face next season means he will get opportunities to shine.

Second Mosquera bid coming

Arsenal’s first offer for Mosquera of €14 million has been rejected by Valencia, with local media of the belief that it will be “almost impossible” for a deal to be struck below the €20m mark.

He has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €13.9m – which is almost exactly what Arteta’s side have offered.

FootballTransfers exclusively revealed on 1 July that Arsenal will make a second bid for Mosquera. With this set to come in around the €18m mark, it appears that there is still some way to run in this saga, despite the Gunners looking strong favourites to land the centre-back.
