Jamie Carragher has named what he wants footballers to be banned from doing after Newcastle beat Arsenal 4-0 on aggregate to reach the Carabao Cup final.
Mikel Arteta’s side needed to overturn a 2-0 deficit from the first leg to book their place in the final at Wembley.
But Eddie Howe’s team produced a dominant display as they claimed a 2-0 victory in front of a raucous St James’ Park crowd.
Jacob Murphy found the net in the 19th minute to provide a comfortable cushion for the Magpies.
But it was the manner of Anthony Gordon’s second-half goal, which put the tie out OF Arsenal’s reach, that frustrated ex-Liverpool defender Carragher.
Carragher took to social media site X to condemn Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya for his role in the goal as the Spaniard played a pass from the penalty area to Declan Rice at the top of the box.

Rice was pressured off the ball by Fabian Schar, who set up a quick-thinking and nerveless shot to snuff out the Gunners’ hopes of a Wembley final.
‘Keepers need to be banned from playing those passes into midfield players,’ Carragher noted.
Media personality Piers Morgan agreed with the pundit, adding: ‘FFS (for f***’s sake). That was b***** awful, Arsenal’.
Gordon was the hero of the hour at full-time, and even managed to land a cheeky dig which referenced Manchester City striker Erling Haaland’s infamous directive that Arsenal should ‘stay humble’ in his post-match interview.
‘It feels amazing (to make it to the final),’ Gordon told Sky Sports. ‘A proper team performance and we got the win.
‘Our fans are never in question, they make it so difficult for the opposition and we did it the right way.
‘We had a game plan we thought would work. Everyone knows we press. It is important for us to stay humble now. It will be a big occasion, but it’s so far away.’
Howe’s side will travel to the capital in March to face either Liverpool or Tottenham – who play their second leg on Thursday evening – for the second time in two years after their unsuccessful Carabao Cup final against Manchester United in 2023.
The Magpies will hope to end their 70-year major domestic trophy drought at Wembley.
