Chelsea have accelerated their pursuit of a new centre forward by sending scouts to watch Samu Aghehowa and Conrad Harder in action.

The Blues are actively looking to bring a striker to Stamford Bridge this summer and they have been linked with a number of stars, including Nigeria international Victor Osimhen.

However, Enzo Maresca’s side were unable to finalise a deal for the 26-year-old last summer, and they have reportedly turned their attention to Portugal as they look for a suitable competitor for Nicolas Jackson.

Jackson, 23, has failed to score in each of his last eight Premier League matches and his recent downturn in form has coincided in the worst period of Maresca’s short time in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are hoping to fix their current woes with the addition of a new centre forward this summer, and TBR Football have revealed that Aghehowa, formerly known as Omorodion, and Harder are both being monitored by the west London giants.

The pair were in action when Porto faced Sporting CP in the Primeira Liga on Friday night, and Chelsea scouts were in attendance to watch their performances.

Aghehowa provided a stoppage time assist for Porto, although Harder was substituted for Viktor Gyokeres in the 69th minute after an ineffective outing.

Aghehowa was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea last summer, but the deal collapsed at the last minute and the Blues opted to sign Joao Felix instead, with Aghehowa joining Porto for €15 million.

However, his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) has risen to a whopping €70.4m after scoring 18 goals in 27 appearances for Porto, and he is set to be pursued by the west London giants yet again in 2025.

As for Harder, he has been forced to play second fiddle to the aforementioned Gyokeres since his summer move to Sporting CP, although he has still registered nine goals for the Portuguese giants so far this campaign and Chelsea are keeping tabs on his progress.
