Man United star Lisandro Martinez gets support from his mum with his rehab after suffering anterior cruciate ligament injury

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez has received support from his mother in his recovery from injury.

In an adorable video, Martinez’s mum is seen telling him to ‘push’ as he raises his leg.

Martinez is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury while playing against Crystal Palace earlier this month.

There are concerns that the defender could be out for up to a year with the injury.

After he suffered the injury Martinez thanked his family, friends, team-mates and supporters for their messages.

‘Today, after going through several stormy days where I allowed myself to feel and accept my sadness, helplessness, insecurities, fears, and a deep emotional imbalance, I am reconnecting with my essence and my values, which help me see things from a kinder and more positive perspective,’ he wrote on Instagram.

‘I feel immense gratitude for the incredible work and support of Man United, Argentina federation, my family, friends, teammates, and everyone who took the time to send me a message of encouragement’.

‘The surgery went perfectly! Now it’s time to give it my all, with heart and soul, in the rehabilitation process.’

Martinez’s injury comes at a time when United are without a host of other players.

Amad Diallo is expected to miss the rest of the season, while Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo are also out.

Other players who are currently unavailable include Toby Collyer, Mason Mount, Altay Bayindir and Jonny Evans.

Martinez has featured prominently for United since joining the club from Ajax in 2022.

In total, he has made 91 appearances for The Red Devils across all competitions.

During his time at United Martinez has won the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup.
