Enzo Maresca might have led Chelsea to the Club World Cup, but the West London club have already earmarked the Italian’s replacement at Stamford Bridge, according to a report.

Chelsea enjoyed an excellent first season under Maresca, who arrived a year ago from Leicester City. It was capped at the weekend as they smashed PSG 3-0 in the Club World Cup final, with Cole Palmer netting a fine double to down the Champions League winners.

Heading into the new campaign, the Todd Boehly-owned club are spending lavishly in an attempt to take another step forward, with their marquee addition Jamie Gittens.

Chelsea’s next manager named

Chelsea are ready to name Liam Rosenior as their next manager following his success in France with BlueCo club Strasbourg.

Rosenior, who is a former manager of Hull City in the Championship, has impressed since his move to Ligue 1 and led a very young side into Europe. His squad was bolstered by several additions on loan from Chelsea, who are the sister club of Racing. Included in this number were Andrey Santos, who played a significant role as the Blues went all the way in the US, and Djordje Petrovic, who is set to be sold to Bournemouth for big money.

The Englishman’s arrival at Stamford Bridge is not forecast to take place imminently, but Boehly & Co. were left impressed by his ability to play attractive and tactically fluid football. He is described as a “rising star in the wider Chelsea universe”.

The 41-year-old is under contract at Strasbourg until 2028, having signed a contract extension in April. He won 18 of the 37 games he oversaw with the Alsace club last season as he led them to seventh in Ligue 1, securing Conference League football in the process.

Although Rosenior is lined up to take charge at Chelsea, it is stressed that Maresca’s position at Stamford Bridge is “more secure than ever”.
