Cooper Kupp is set to be released by the LA Rams after the start of the new league year unless a trade materializes, according to reports.
NFL insider Adam Schefter was first to break the news of the Rams’ brutal decision on Kupp, who has been heavily linked with a move away from Los Angeles in recent months.
The 31-year-old wide receiver is heading for the exit after eight seasons at SoFi Stadium, where he began his NFL career back in 2017.
News of his impending departure comes after the Rams reportedly sealed a massive two-year, $46million deal to sign another veteran wide receiver in Davante Adams.
Adams, whose rumored contract includes $26m guaranteed, is heading to LA after being released by the New York Jets.
Kupp made 113 appearances for the Rams after being selected by the team in the third round (69th overall) of the 2017 draft.

The former East Washington college star proved crucial in their 2021 Super Bowl triumph, picking up the MVP prize after taking eight catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns in a 23-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
He was also named the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year for that season after leading the league in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
Kupp’s spectacular 2021 campaign also earned him his first and only Pro Bowl and first team All-Pro selections.
Adams is now poised to replace him at SoFi Stadium after agreeing a lucrative deal with the Rams in the wake of his Jets departure.
The 32-year-old totaled 1,063 yards and eight touchdowns last year in action for the Las Vegas Raiders and New York, where he moved to mid-season.
He was traded to the Jets on October 15 and ultimately played just 11 games for the franchise as they sputtered to a hugely disappointing 5-12 record by the end of the season.
