The big spenders will be out in force again this summer, with Real Madrid looking to back new boss Xabi Alonso, Chelsea keen to improve again after securing Champions League qualification, and Manchester United desperate to reclaim some kind of success after a disastrous season that saw them finish just three places above the relegation zone in the Premier League.

The Red Devils have signed Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, with Man City also flexing their financial power to sign Tijani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Marcus Bettinelli and Rayan Cherki.

Chelsea have signed Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens, notably.

The biggest deal so far this summer saw Florian Wirtz complete a blockbuster transfer to Liverpool from Leverkusen, while they also brought in Hugo Ekitike from the Bundesliga.

Wrexham’s SHOCK move for ex Man Utd star

Wrexham attempted a shock approach for Christian Eriksen.

The Dane’s representative Martin Schoots told Mail Sport: “Wrexham are really upgrading everything both on and off the field, and it is a hugely impressive project, as you can see from the presence of people like [CEO] Michael Williamson there.

“But Christian still wants to play in a first-tier competition and he absolutely wants to stay in Western Europe. There are some contacts going on but it has to suit both sides.”

Wrexham are of course bankrolled by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Real Madrid have not attempted to sign Rodri

Contrary to previous reports, Real Madrid are not planning to sign Rodri from Man City this summer.

The Ballon d’Or winner has been linked with Madrid for a while but his serious knee injury softed any rumours linking him with a Man City exit until recently.

Reports suggested Los Blancos were preparing a £100 million (€114m) bid for Rodri, but journalist Jose Felix Diaz of Marca says that is not the case.

Thomas Muller NOT retiring

Thomas Muller has confirmed that he’s not retiring despite leaving Bayern Munich this summer.

“I still have the desire to play football, and that’s why I’ve decided to definitely continue. I will remain a footballer,” he said this week.

“It will definitely be an experience abroad for me – I’m really looking forward to it and I’m curious. […] The MLS is of course an interesting league, especially with the World Cup taking place in the U.S. next year.”

The World Cup winner has been linked with LAFC.

Newcastle to make Sesko approach

Newcastle will make an ambitious approach for Benjamin Sesko.

The Slovenian has been strongly linked with Arsenal but with the Gunners set to announce Viktor Gyokeres, he’ll need to look elsehwere if he wants to leave RB Leipzig. Newcastle are preparing for a potential departure of Alexander Isak by targeting Sesko, according to Fabrizio Romano, who wrote on X:

“Understand Newcastle are ready to present their project to Benjamin Šeško as they want to go big! Proposal to the player also being prepared as #NUFC see Šeško as ideal striker in case Isak leaves, as he wants to. As revealed earlier, Newcastle are very keen on Šeško.”

Ajax boss comments on Hato rumours

Ajax boss Johnny Heitinga has commented on the rumours linking Jorrel Hato to Chelsea after the player was left out of the squad for the friendly against Celtic on Thursday.

“He’s still an Ajax player,” Heitinga said. “I can’t promise [he’ll play on Sunday]. We still have to train, and it’s still a few days. But he and [Kenneth] Taylor are still Ajax players at the moment.”
