Enzo Maresca is edging closer to his dream Chelsea squad following reports that three more players are set to depart this summer.
The Blues have been extremely active in the market over the past few weeks and they are eager to sanction several sales in order to fund moves for RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Xavi Simons and Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho.
The Frenchman will sign a four-year contract at Turf Moor, after spending last season on loan at Southampton, and Carney Chukwuemeka and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall could follow him to the exit door.
Chukwuemeka joined Borussia Dortmund on loan during the January transfer window and Chelsea have now reactivated talks with the Bundesliga outfit ahead of a possible return this summer.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who has revealed that Chukwuemeka wants to rejoin Niko Kovac’s side, although Chelsea are currently only interested in a permanent sale.
Meanwhile, Romano has also confirmed that Everton have submitted an “official bid” for Dewsbury-Hall and talks between the two clubs are now underway.
Enzo Maresca’s dream Chelsea squad
Although Maresca is a known admirer of Dewsbury-Hall, the Englishman only started two Premier League games last season and he has fallen further down the pecking order this summer following Andrey Santos’ return from loan and the arrival of Dario Essugo.
As a result, a sale makes sense and his departure, along with the exits of Ugochukwu and Chukwuemeka, would help reduce the size of Chelsea’s bloated first-team squad.
The west London giants currently own 40 senior players and this is seen as a major problem by the hierarchy at Stamford Bridge.
However, Marc Guiu, Armando Broja, Renato Veiga and Axel Disasi are all close to leaving, either on loan or permanently, while several others have been heavily linked with summer departures.
If the members of the Blues’ ‘Bomb Squad’ all depart this summer, it will leave Maresca with a far more manageable squad and it will also help Chelsea fund the arrivals of both Simons and Garnacho.
