Manchester United could land a huge transfer bonus that could propel them to sign Benjamin Sesko.

The Red Devils have had issues this summer selling their own players. Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia all remain at the club, while Marcus Rashford has only left for Barcelona on loan.

United’s inability to raise money from sales has hampered their efforts to land Sesko, who is also wanted by Newcastle United.

Greenwood could send Sesko to Old Trafford

Greenwood departed United last summer for Marseille in a €26 million transfer that was fuelled by accusations against the England international forward.

The 23-year-old might have produced a mixed performance in France, but 22 goals in 36 appearances have been enough to capture the eye of the Saudi Pro League, where three teams are now vying to sign him.

According to Fichajes, Neom, Al-Ahli and Al-Hilal are all fighting to sign Greenwood, who are willing to pay up to €80 million for the player.

Of this fee, €40m would be due to Man Utd due to the sell-on clause they installed in the deal last summer.

Marseille have laid their terms down and want to retain a 20% stake in Greenwood to protect themselves in case he eventually departs for a higher fee. The player, who has a contract at Stade Velodrome until 2029, has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €43.3m.

Fichajes claims that this could represent a ‘turning point’ in Greenwood’s career as well as a ‘new era’ in the Saudi Pro League, which has struggled to attract young talent this summer.

Having failed in moves for the likes of Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior, Newcastle forward Alexander Isak and Napoli hitman Victor Osimhen, Saudi appears to have its sights set on Greenwood.
