Real Madrid are willing to break the bank on PSG midfielder Vitinha, according to Spanish media.
The Portugal international has gone from easily forgotten former Wolves midfielder to European champion in a relatively short period of time. At PSG, Vitinha has become one of the best in the business, acting as the metronome that makes the French giants tick.
Luis Enrique has managed to get the very best out of the 25-year-old in his two years in Paris, and the Spaniard’s side would look unrecognisable without the diminutive playmaker.
Yet that is a prospect PSG could potentially face in the not-too-distant future. In recent days, reports in Spain have increasingly suggested that Real Madrid have taken a real liking to Vitinha.
MARCA now goes so far as to suggest that Los Blancos are willing to pay as much as €90 million to secure the Portugal star. However, this would require formal negotiations as there is no release clause in his contract, as per French law.
Vitinha to become the next Mbappe?
Of course, PSG and Real Madrid have plenty of recent history, and it isn’t positive as far as the French champions are concerned. Kylian Mbappe was lured out of Paris by the Spanish giants on a free transfer last summer.
The Mbappe saga severely damaged relations between the two clubs, and there have frequently been reports of PSG seeking to get ‘revenge’ on Real Madrid by signing one of their key players. Rodrygo is a name that has recently been floated in the press.
It therefore appears that a move for Vitinha would require a lot of persuasion from Real Madrid. In any case, there is no chance of a deal materialising this year; this is a story for 2026 at the earliest.
Even then, however, there is no prospect of an Mbappe-type situation arising as Vitinha is under contract until 2029, leaving PSG in a very strong position to fend off Real Madrid’s interest.
