Julio Enciso’s move to Strasbourg and Chelsea’s BlueCo group has collapsed after the concerns over the Brighton forward’s injury status.
Enciso had agreed to join the BlueCo project after a €15 million deal was struck last week, with the 21-year-old initially set to head for Strasbourg before eventually becoming a long-term Chelsea player.
The situation has led to L’Equipe confirming that a deal is now off for Enciso to move to Strasbourg after reports from Paraguay had initially made the claims.
Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler clarified Enciso’s injury status and hinted that more could come over the youngster’s future before the end of the transfer window on Monday.
“He didn’t suffer a serious injury. He has resumed rehabilitation training,” Hurzeler said. “We still have open communication with Julio and we will see what happens in the coming days.”
Enciso set for uncertain future after transfer collapse
Enciso spent last season on loan at Ipswich and impressed during his appearances, prompting BlueCo to pursue his signing with the view of the forward becoming a future Chelsea player.
The Paraguayan international played 12 times for the relegated side, grabbing two goals and three assists, before injury cut his season short.
However, Enciso’s surgery in June is his third on the same knee, which has seemingly deterred the move from happening after he is said to have failed an additional medical test.

Enciso is now expected to spend the season at Brighton, where his contract expires next summer, or, alternatively find a move elsewhere by the end of the month.
