Anderson Silva was a pioneer.
The elbow finish early in cage rage… the knees to Rich Franklin, the counter punch to James Irvin, the front kick to Vitor Belfort, the last second triangle on Chael Sonnen… what this guy made us live, feel and discover left a mark inside of us.
But personally, the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about him, the image I have of him, what gave me goose bumps every time he did it, is how he just fought hands down, face first, and moved so well and so smart, so smooth and so nicely. He just dodged everything and countered amazingly. What he did to both winners of TUF 1 finale Stephan Bonnar and Forest Griffin was incredible…
What he brought to the table so early in history is indelible. He inspired so many fans and so many fighters following him among which features Jon Jones.
I said prime Jone Jones would beat him, and Jone Jones procured me some big chills as well, begining with Lyoto Machida's walk away choke out… but where Jones is a war machine, he could never equal the chills procured by Silva's way of dodging shots hands down.
This made me want to fight, and fight this way exactly. This is so beautiful, so exciting, it beats everything else.
I will finish this with just a word about his personality. The real reason why Silva will no matter what always be above Jones, is his humility.
Thank you so much for all that you gave us Spider… we love you and will never forget you.

1:20 Silva made his opponents look ridiculous and amateurish. Griffin "ran" away of the octagon post their fight (those who remember know what I'm talking about). I witnessed all of his title defenses. This legend will never be forgotten.
