Argentina star comes on the market: Man Utd rekindle old flame as European giants hover
Manchester United could revisit an old target in the summer to solve Ruben Amorim’s central defensive problems, with the Red Devils having been told that an Argentina international is available for transfer in a matter of weeks.
Lens centre-back Facundo Medina will leave the Ligue 1 side in the summer, according to L’Equipe, following fellow defenders Kevin Danos (Tottenham Hotspur) and Abdukodir Khusanov (Manchester City) out of the door.

The 25-year-old Medina will, however, leave Lens in the summer, opening up the possibility of hooking up with international colleague Lisandro Martinez at Old Trafford.
For the moment, though, Man Utd are not thought to be one of the teams leading the way for a player who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €25.3 million.
Crystal Palace hold an interest in Medina, while European heavyweights Bayer Leverkusen, Roma and Marseille are all chasing his signature.
Medina a smart match for Man Utd
Medina has the attributes to shine in an Amorim team. He is excellent at covering ground and has good stamina, while he has shown himself to operate very well in a pressing team at Lens. Furthermore, he is very capable on the ball.
On top of this, he boasts Champions League experience during his time with Lens and was part of the team that stunned Arsenal 2-1 in last season’s competition.
The Argentine has the capacity to become a key player for the Old Trafford side if he reaches his full potential, according to data analytics experts SciSports.
Man Utd’s lack of European football is set to count against them if they go back in for Medina the Red Devils would hope that if it came to a straight shootout between themselves and Crystal Palace they would stand a strong chance of landing the player.
