USWNT soccer stars Ashlyn Harris and Ali Krieger are getting a divorce after four years of marriage.
According to Page Six, Harris has filed for divorce and a court document dated September 19 said that their relationship was ‘irretrievably broken’.
Harris, 37, retired from soccer in November 2022 and Krieger, 39, plays for Gotham FC but will retire after this weekend’s game – Gotham’s last of the season.
They adopted two children together and married on Dec. 28, 2019, in Miami, nine months after they revealed their engagement.
They met in 2010 at USWNT training camp. In an interview with Allure in 2020, they admitted being teammates while also being in a relationship was difficult at times.
‘The team comes first,’ Harris said. ‘We actually don’t stay in the same room [on the road]. If we are in the same room, we’re in separate beds because sleep is a huge part of our recovery.
‘I think that’s the hardest part. We don’t get really good time together. We have to make time even though we see each other all the time. It’s tricky.’
Harris played 25 times for USA as a goalkeeper while Krieger made 108 appearances at international level for her country, both winning two World Cups in 2015 and 2019.
