Matildas star and her wife make exciting announcement just months after tying the knot

Matildas star Emily Van Egmond and her partner Kat have taken to Instagram to make the exciting announcement that they are expecting a baby.

The pair stood in what appeared to be a park and were pictured gazing into each other’s eyes as Kat held up several pictures of her scans.

‘Baby Van Egmond coming October,’ they captioned the post.

Emily’s team-mates quickly dropped in to congratulate the pair on the huge news.

Mary Fowler wrote: ‘Congrats to you both!!’

While Matildas captain, Sam Kerr, who is also due to welcome a baby with her partner Kristie Mewis in the coming months, wrote: ‘Let’s goooooo.’

Emily and Kat were wed in December at a lavish ceremony that took place at a winery in the Krinklewood Estate in New South Wales’ Hunter Valley.

Kat, who has now taken her partner’s surname, stunned in a beautiful white dress, as Emily, 31, donned a sleek black dinner jacket with a bow tie.

The pair were joined by Kerr and several other footy stars, including Katie McCabe and Caitlin Foord for the ceremony, while Kerr and her father Roger also attended alongside Mewis.

Emily popped the question to Kat last June, sharing the news on Instagram by publishing a series of pictures of themselves beaming from ear-to-ear on a beach in San Diego, California.

Emily recently featured for Australia in their victories against South Korea.

She notably set up Fowler for their first goal in their 2-0 win last Monday.
