The latest Manchester United transfer news, gossip and rumours ahead as Ruben Amorim looks to rebuild his squad in the summer window.
Cunha deal ‘agreed’
Matheus Cunha will become Manchester Unitedās first major summer transfer signing after the Red Devils agreed to match the Wolverhampton Wanderers starās release fee, according to a report from Brazil.
An agreement is in place for Cunha to hook up with Man Utd, who will pay ā¬75 million (Ā£62.5m) to sign the former Atletico Madrid star, with Goal reporting the news.
The Red Devils have beaten competition from Arsenal and Nottingham Forest to land the 25-year-old.
FootballTransfers revealed that the Gunners had agreed personal terms with Cunha in January but their inability to match Wolvesā expectations over a transfer fee led to no deal being done and the player signing a new contract with his current release figure installed.
Man Utd eye Mateta amid Delap uncertainty
Manchester Unitedās search for a new striker this summer could lead to a shock target after uncertainty emerged in their pursuit of Liam Delap.
However, Delapās Ā£30m (ā¬35m) relegation release clause at Ipswich has made him an attractive target to many clubs including Chelsea and now Newcastle, both of whom could be playing in the Champions League next season along with Arsenal after FootballTransfers exclusively revealed their interest earlier this week..
United, too, could secure Champions League football through lifting the Europa League but Ruben Amorimās side have seemingly outlined alternative plans by making contact with Crystal Palaceās Jean-Philippe Mateta, according to CaughtOffside.
Mateta has been in fine form this season, having netted his 14th Premier League goal of the season against Arsenal this week, and Palace are already thought to exploring replacements for the Frenchman in anticipation of the interest in their top scorer.
Man Utd interested in Man City youngster
Manchester United could attempt a stunning raid on Manchester City this summer with Ruben Amorim reportedly hoping to steal a massive talent from his major rivals.
United are among the clubs hoping to lure another of Pep Guardiolaās young stars away from the Etihad Stadium in James McAtee, according to The Telegraph.
McAtee has impressed for City in his limited appearances this season and the 22-year-old is in search of regular game time as he enters the final year of his contract at the club.
However, United will face competition from Milan, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest, who could target McAtee if City make a move for Morgan Gibbs-White as a replacement for the outgoing Kevin de Bruyne.
Confidence growing in Mainoo stay
There is a āgrowing sense’ at Manchester United that Kobbie Mainoo will remain at the club, according to David Ornstein, despite the youngster turning down a contract extension.
Mainoo was expected to be a player that United were open to cashing in on and, while that is unlikely to have changed due to the clubās financial limitations, Ornstein wrote on The Athletic that there was a āgrowing senseā over the 20-year-old staying at Old Trafford.

However, Ornstein did concede that United would need to āaddressā Mainooās contract, which is due to expire in 2028 assuming the club activate their one-year option.
Rashford unsure over future
Marcus Rashford faces a summer of uncertainty as the Manchester United star does not yet know if Aston Villa will complete the buyout of his loan contract.
With rumours around the future of Rashford arriving thick and fast, Sky Sportsā Melissa Reddy has revealed the current state of play with the England international.
The feeling in the Rashford camp is that there will be a lot more suitors for him this summer than there was in the winter window
– Melissa Reddy, Sky Sports
āMarcus Rashford hasnāt had any discussions over his future yet. Heās only planning on making a decision around mid-June. We do know that he has some preferences: that he wants to play for a club playing Champions League football.
āHe has no willingness to move to London and to feature for one of the clubs there. Iām told very strongly that Rashford has no willingness to be involved in any part-exchange deal that Manchester United may be considering.
āHe does have a good working relationship with Unai Emery, heās content at Aston Villa and he loves how the club has unlocked his game. He feels like heās in love with football again. Villa have a Ā£40m option to sign Rashford permanently but theyāve not made a decision over whether they will action that.
āThe feeling in the Rashford camp is that there will be a lot more suitors for him this summer than there was in the winter window. This might suit everyone. It gives him more options, but if there are more bidders, then United might get more than that Ā£40m option that Villa have.ā
