Ander Herrera, the former Manchester United Player of the Year, has posted a heartbreaking message on social media after suffering a serious injury.
The Spanish midfielder, who left Old Trafford in the summer of 2019, has been out of action since October after suffering a thigh injury while playing for Paris Saint-Germain.
Herrera, who was a fan favourite during his time at United, took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the injury and the long road to recovery.
He wrote: “It’s been a difficult few months for me. I’ve been through a lot of pain and frustration, but I’m determined to come back stronger than ever.
“I’m grateful for all the support I’ve received from my family, friends, teammates and fans. I’m doing everything I can to get back to full fitness and help my team.
“I’m sure I’ll be back soon and I’ll be ready to give my all for the team. Thank you for your support.”
Herrera’s injury has been a major blow for PSG, who have been without their star midfielder for much of the season.
The 30-year-old was a key player for United during his five-year spell at the club, winning the Player of the Year award in 2015/16.
He was also part of the team that won the FA Cup in 2016 and the Europa League in 2017.
Herrera’s injury is a reminder of the fragility of professional footballers and the importance of taking care of their bodies.
It’s a reminder that, no matter how talented a player is, they can still suffer serious injuries that can derail their career.
Herrera’s message is a reminder of the dedication and determination required to overcome such setbacks and come back stronger than ever.
We wish him all the best in his recovery and hope to see him back on the pitch soon.
