ARSENAL and Tottenham are set to battle it out for the deadline day signing of Middlesbrough full-back Djed Spence.
The 21-year-old is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest and has flourished at the East Midlands club.
But he could be set for a permanent move to North London as The Northern Echo are reporting interest from both the Gunners and Lilywhites.
If Spence was to join one of the Premier League sides, he would go back out on loan to Forest until the end of the season.
The English defender has made 27 appearances for the Championship team this term.
He can be utilised as both a right-back and a right winger.
In the 2021-22 campaign so far, Spence has contributed one goal and two assists.
And he burst onto Arsenal’s radar during Forest’s FA Cup clash against them earlier this month.
The young full-back produced a sensational display as the second tier side knocked Arsenal out thanks to a late Lewis Grabban goal.
Meanwhile, Boro boss Chris Wilder hinted earlier today that there could still be some arrivals and departures before the window shuts.
He said: “I had a conversation with the owner yesterday, and he’s doing as much as he possibly can to back things, which he always has done.

“If there’s no action, there’s no action, and we’ll go with what we’ve got.
“If there is, and there’s a couple of outs and a couple of ins, then great.”
Boro currently sit in the Championship play-off places on goal difference following their 1-0 win over Coventry at the weekend.
