RB Leipzig are open to offers for seemingly most, if not all, of their star players after missing out on European football.
The Red Bulls are coming off one of the worst seasons in their brief club history, having failed to qualify for a UEFA competition for the first time since their promotion to the Bundesliga in 2016.
This could have dire consequences for the club as their regular participation in the Champions League was one of their biggest selling points to high-profile players and up-and-coming youngsters.
With this not the case now, Leipzig are no longer as attractive as they once were, and this is a sentiment also shared by their current crop of players. Benjamin Sesko is ready to jump ship, with the Slovenian in negotiations with Arsenal.
But the 22-year-old isn’t the only one looking to leave. In fact, Leipzig are forced to consider offers for all of their biggest stars as they need to raise funds for a much-needed rebuild.
Leipzig want €70m for Xavi, Openda and Nusa
It has been known for several weeks already that Netherlands international Xavi Simons is keen to leave Leipzig this summer, despite only having his loan from PSG made permanent in January for a whopping €50 million.
The Athletic has now confirmed Simons’ plan to get out, and adds that Leipzig have set an asking price of at least €70m for the 22-year-old. The Red Bulls are desperate to turn a profit on their club-record investment.
Perhaps more intriguing is the reporting from Sky Germany on Antonio Nusa and Lois Openda, who are both attracting interest. While Leipzig are not actively looking to sell, they will consider bids in the region of €70m for both.
Nusa was recently linked with a €45m move to Arsenal, but that fee isn’t going to cut it. Either way, the availability of these hugely promising players certainly won’t have caught he attention of just the Gunners.
The likes of Chelsea, Man Utd and Liverpool are all known admirers of the work Leipzig have done in developing players since their arrival in the Bundesliga, and they will surely all be keeping a watchful eye on developments in Saxony’s largest city over the next few weeks.
