Arsenal legend Ian Wright admits he’s ‘jealous and frightened’ of arch-rivals Tottenham’s squad after summer transfers

ARSENAL legend Ian Wright has revealed he is “jealous and frightened” by the summer transfer business completed by arch rivals Tottenham.

Spurs have already made four signings this summer – bringing in Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison.

Antonio Conte is also closing in on deals for Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet and Middlesbrough right-back Djed Spence.

Arsenal have made four signings of their own – Matt Turner, Marquinhos, Fabio Vieira and Gabriel Jesus.

But Gunners icon Wright admits he is concerned by the strength of the squad Conte is building in North London.

Speaking on the Wrighty’s House podcast, he said: “I feel Tottenham are going to cause problems.

“You can’t not be jealous of that summer, especially coming from the other side of north London.

“They are frightening, man. Everything we are doing at Arsenal, and I am putting on as my armour. But we have done this. We have Vieira. We have two number 10s now. And we are still trying for [Youri] Tielemans. And we have Gabriel Jesus.

“So, you are trying to arm yourself because the Tottenham fans are saying “Well, we have Bissouma now, Richarlison, [Harry] Kane, then [Rodrigo] Bentancur is going to kick in and we have seen what [Cristian] Romero is about’.

“When you look at how Tottenham can flex when they are doing it under this manager, it kind of makes me feel s***.”

Tottenham pipped Arsenal to fourth place at the end of last season as they returned to the Champions League after two campaigns away.

The Gunners led Spurs by five points with just three Premier League games remaining.

But a defeat in the North London derby was followed up by a devastating loss to Newcastle.

And Tottenham finished the season strongly as they leapfrogged Arsenal to clinch fourth spot.
