ARSENAL are reportedly weighing up a shock summer swoop to sign Gabriel Jesus with the Manchester City striker open to a switch to the Emirates.
Mikel Arteta is desperate to bolster his attack, and is claimed to have identified the Brazilian as a potential option in the upcoming transfer window.
The Gunners allowed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to join Barcelona earlier this year after he was deemed surplus to requirements.
Meanwhile Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are poised to depart when their contracts expire at the end of the campaign.
And according to The Athletic, Brazil international Jesus has emerged as a possible target.
The news outlet states that Arsenal’s technical director Edu has been in talks with the player’s representatives for a number of months.
They also add that the ex-Palmeiras ace, who is tied down at the Etihad until 2023, is willing to link up with the North London outfit.
As well as Jesus, it has been said that Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin is being considered by Arsenal.
Recent reports have suggested that Barcelona are keen on the 25-year-old, but The Athletic insist Arsenal are the favourites to secure his services.
It has also been claimed that City and Arsenal are yet to enter negotiations over a transfer for Jesus.

Jesus has found his game time limited under Pep Guardiola this season, having started just 16 Premier League games.
And his first team chances would be further impacted next campaign should the Citizens sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.
The Norwegian striker is understood to have agreed a £500,000-a-week deal to join City.
Jesus is known to boast good relations with Arteta, with the pair working together for almost three years at City when the Spaniard was Guardiola’s No2.
Speaking prior to Arteta taking charge of Arsenal, Jesus waxed lyrical over the 40-year-old’s qualities as a coach.
He remarked: “He’s helped a lot of players. When I want to do finishing after training, I tell him and he comes and helps me.
“So he is really fantastic for us. All the players know that — everyone knows that in the club. He is a fantastic guy and fantastic manager.”
