Arsenal one of three clubs to join Man Utd in Christopher Nkunku transfer race with RB Leipzig star in demand

MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly been joined by Arsenal and two other clubs in the hunt for Christopher Nkunku.

The RB Leipzig attacking midfielder has been in sensational form this season, scoring 30 goals in all competitions.

And Sport Bild claims Arsenal, Inter Milan and AC Milan are all ready to compete with United for Nkunku’s coveted signature.

The France international, 24, has come on leaps and bounds this term, having scored just 12 goals across his previous two campaigns.

Ralf Rangnick is a huge fan of the ex-Paris Saint-Germain youngster, having signed him for Leipzig in 2019.

And Rangnick believes Nkunku would be a perfect fit for Erik ten Hag’s system this summer.

Leipzig are only too aware of United’s interest after multiple scouting missions.

And they reportedly value Nkunku at around £54million.

However, United face a battle to land the whiz, especially as they look set to miss out on a Champions League spot.

Arsenal are said to be huge fans, with Mikel Arteta viewing Nkunku as an ideal signing in his upcoming squad rebuild.

The Gunners boss has come under fire for leaving himself with a threadbare squad after the January window.

And versatile Nkunku would be able to slot in anywhere across Arsenal’s midfield and attack.

But the talented goal poacher could yet end up playing in Italy.

Reigning champions Inter fear they could lose Lautaro Martinez this summer and want Nkunku as a direct replacement.

Meanwhile, current Serie A table toppers AC Milan could be on the brink of a mega-money takeover from Bahrain.

And Nkunku is already at the top of a lucrative shopping list that also includes Ajax striker Sebastien Haller, Roma winger Nicolo Zaniolo and Milan’s former goalie Gianluigi Donnarumma – who left on a free transfer for PSG last summer.

However, Leipzig chief Oliver Mintzlaff sent a defiant message to suitors in February, insisting Nkunku would remain in Germany next season.

He said: “Nkunku ill also play with us next season because of course he is a very important player.
