Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta could add a Champions League winner to his squad this summer, with the Gunners set to land a player who has done it at the very top level.

The Emirates club are locked in discussions with Bayern Munich attacker Kingsley Coman, with the talks said to have been ‘positive’ thus far.

Florian Plettenberg has reported on X: “There is contact between Arsenal and Kingsley Coman’s management, with both sides in ongoing communication.

“Arsenal are aware that Saudi Arabia is a very appealing option for Coman, but they have expressed their interest.

“Coman and Bayern are expected to part ways in the summer. The situation is positive, with open dialogue between all parties. Coman will be replaced.”

Kinsley Coman: An impressive CV

Coman, a PSG academy graduate, would likely arrive at the Emirates Stadium as a supplementary player to the first-team squad. This is unlikely to be too great a problem for the Frenchman, who has regularly played the role of supersub for Bayern Munich in recent times.

He would add strength and experience to Arsenal’s bench as he posts a strong pedigree of winning titles at the highest level.

Coman is an eight-time Bundesliga champion while he also scored the winning goal in the 2020 Champions League final, heading home the only strike against PSG.

He also has two league titles from his time with PSG, while he also has a couple of Serie A crowns with Juventus from the early part of his career.

At international level, meanwhile, he has been a runner-up at both Euro 2016 and at the 2022 World Cup. Had it not been for injury, he would have been a member of the victorious 2018 World Cup squad.

Coman is out of contract with Bayern Munich in 2027, yet FCB are unlikely to stand in his way from a summer exit. With an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €38.7 million, he is available at the type of price point that Arsenal are likely to pay for a supporting member of Arteta’s squad.
