Arsenal are preparing a new offer for Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyokeres as they intensify their pursuit of his signature.

The Sweden international has been earmarked as a key transfer target by the Gunners hierarchy, however talks have stalled in recent days due to Sporting’s asking price.

However, RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko has asked for a release clause to be included in his contract if he is to join Arsenal, as exclusively revealed by The Transfers Podcast, and his wage demands are also proving to be a major stumbling block.

As a result, Arsenal are now preparing a second offer for Gyokeres, according to Portuguese outlet Correio de Manha, with Mikel Arteta eager for the 27-year-old to be involved in his side’s pre-season tour of Asia.

Gyokeres has scored 97 goals in 102 appearances for Sporting and Arsenal have decided to submit a new offer in an attempt to finalise a deal for his signature.

The Sweden star has set his sights on completing a summer move to Arsenal, despite interest from Manchester United, and he is hoping to join the north London giants before the 2025-26 campaign kicks off.

Arsenal’s first summer signing in London

Meanwhile, Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi is currently in London to complete his move to Arsenal, as confirmed by Sky Sports News.

The Spain international will become Arsenal’s first signing of the 2025 summer transfer window, as exclusively revealed by FootballTransfers back in early May, and he is expected to replace Thomas Partey as Arteta’s first-choice defensive midfielder next season.
