Arsenal have been in a state of flux for the past few seasons, with the club struggling to find a way to compete for the top honours in the Premier League and Europe. However, with the recent signings of Nicolas Pepe and Dani Ceballos, the Gunners have taken a major step forward in their quest to become a major force in the game once again.
The two signings have added much needed quality and depth to the squad, and with the addition of a few more players, Arsenal could be in a position to challenge for the Champions League next season.
The first area that needs to be addressed is the defence. Arsenal have been poor defensively in recent years, and the addition of a top-class centre-back is a must. The club have been linked with a move for Dayot Upamecano, and the French defender would be a perfect fit for the Gunners. He is strong in the air, quick, and has the ability to play out from the back, something that Arsenal have been lacking in recent years.
In addition to Upamecano, Arsenal should also look to bring in a new left-back. Kieran Tierney has been impressive since his arrival from Celtic, but the Gunners need more depth in that position. A move for Ben Chilwell would be ideal, as the Leicester City defender is one of the best left-backs in the Premier League.
In midfield, Arsenal need to add more creativity and energy. Ceballos has been a great addition, but the Gunners need more depth in that area. A move for Wilfred Ndidi would be a great addition, as the Nigerian midfielder is one of the best defensive midfielders in the world. He would provide the perfect balance to Ceballos and Granit Xhaka in the middle of the park.
In attack, Arsenal have a wealth of options. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette have been excellent since their arrivals, and the addition of Pepe has added another dimension to the attack. The trio should be the main attacking force for the Gunners next season, with Mesut Ozil providing the creativity from the number 10 role.
The Gunners also have a number of young players who could make an impact next season. Reiss Nelson, Joe Willock, and Bukayo Saka have all shown glimpses of their potential, and with the right guidance, they could become key players for Arsenal next season.
With the right additions, Arsenal could have a team capable of challenging for the Champions League next season. The defence needs to be strengthened, and the midfield needs to be more creative, but with the right signings, the Gunners could be in a position to challenge for the top honours in Europe.
