Ashley Cole joins Frank Lampard’s Everton backroom team as first-team coach as ex-Arsenal star quits Chelsea role

EVERTON have confirmed the appointment of Ashley Cole as first-team coach.

New boss Frank Lampard has raided his old club Chelsea for his former team-mate.

Frank Lampard has swooped to add former team-mate Ashley Cole to his coaching team

Cole, 41, was working with the Chelsea academy, and is also Lee Carsley’s assistant with the England U21s.

It is not known if he will continue his role with the national team.

It comes after Lampard swooped for assistant manager Joe Edwards from Stamford Bridge.

The Toffees shared news of Cole’s appointment on Twitter.
