Arsenal are continuing to negotiate with Chelsea to sign Noni Madueke this summer, much to the wrath of a number of Gunners fans who have launched a petition to try and prevent the transfer from happening.
Madueke is understood to have already agreed personal terms to move to the Emirates Stadium, while Chelsea are open to his departure despite not encouraging bids or offering him out to their clubs.
Arsenal have already submitted a bid of around €58 million to Chelsea, according to Fabrizio Romano, however the Blues are holding out for a higher offer similar to the €64m fees that Anthony Elanga and Mohammed Kudus have commanded from Premier League sides this summer.
However, the pursuit has not been welcomed by a portion of Arsenal fans who feel that Madueke is not of the quality expected of big money singings, leading to an official petition being made on change.org called ‘#NOTOMADUEKE’ which has more than 3,000 signatures in one day.
The petition reads: “Arsenal fans deserve better, we are so close to success and, instead of capitalising on the squad we have, it seems we are moving two steps back, just like the three previous transfer windows.
“We can surely do better than Madueke and [Viktor] Gyokeres. Show some ambition [and] repay the fans the same way we’ve backed the club for the past two decades.”
‘Patience with Arteta is running out’ – fans respond to Madueke transfer speculation
The petition is unlikely to lead to any formal response, nor has it been endorsed by a large number of Arsenal supporters, many of whom have criticised the idea and the image it promotes of their fanbase.
Fans have seemingly taken offence to interest in Madueke and are likely keen for more proven signings such as Rodrygo or Eberechi Eze, having also seen Arsenal sign a number of cast-offs from Chelsea in recent seasons, to mixed success.
Mikel Arteta has already signed Kepa Arrizabalaga as a backup goalkeeper from Chelsea this summer, while the €75m purchase of Kai Havertz in 2023 has also been questioned by a wide section of fans.
Having provided 13 goals and seven assists in the Premier League since joining Chelsea for €35m in 2023, some Arsenal fans feel they can do better, with many taking to social media to voice their concerns, as well as some criticism of the petition.
if i’m saka and saliba, contracts are not getting signed. not spending the prime years of my career playing with Noni Madueke as my winger. Impossible

The uproar over the Madueke signing isn’t only about the player, it’s the fanbase indirectly showing that their patience with Arteta is gradually running out.
Havertz was a much worse deal but the outrage did not come close to what we’ve seen over the past 72 hours.

Actually beginning to feel sorry for Madueke. A fanbase that never agrees on anything has, for the most part, united against him.

Petition to get every person on that petition banned from the club for life? 🤔 https://t.co/nvs2yYLxCc
