Barcelona attacker Raphinha has agreed a contract extension, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Brazilian winger has enjoyed the best season of his career with the Blaugrana this term, winning a domestic treble and putting up ridiculous personal numbers.

Ahead of the season, Raphinha was among the names linked with a departure from Catalunya as he had previously failed to live up to expectations. However, the arrival of Hansi Flick as head coach changed everything.

The German convinced the 28-year-old to stay and promised him a crucial role in his side. Raphinha, it is fair to say, has handsomely repaid the faith Flick showed in him.

Raphinha set for contract extension

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Raphinha has agreed to commit his long-term future to Barcelona. The Italian reports that the winger will sign a new contract until 2028 imminently.

On Wednesday, Barcelona will announce Flick’s contract extension until 2027, and Raphinha’s fresh terms will be made public thereafter, although the exact date is not yet known.

There has been some transfer speculation surrounding Raphinha in recent months, with Premier League and Saudi clubs reportedly interested in the prolific attacker.

However, the Brazil international has been quite emphatic in stating that he wants to stay at Barcelona for the foreseeable future. He has captained the side on many occasions this season and is loving life with Flick’s exciting squad.

Despite Raphinha’s impending extension, Barcelona will likely dip into the market for some more wide reinforcements this summer. Sporting director Deco has already announced that he is looking for cover for the 28-year-old and Lamine Yamal.
