Marcus Thuram scored a sensational opener inside 30 seconds as his record-breaking goal gave Inter Milan a shock early lead in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final clash with Barcelona.
Thuram netted the fastest ever goal in the last four of the competition to stun the Olympic Stadium in the Spanish capital.
Denzel Dumfries crossed from the right and French star Thuram’s delicate backheel flick sent the ball beyond Wojciech Szczesny and into the corner.
The audacious effort by the 27-year-old gave Inter the perfect start to the tie with Barcelona, who are the favourites to win this season’s Champions League.
Rio Ferdinand, working as a co-commentator on TNT Sports’ coverage of the match, described the goal as a ‘wonderful finish’.
Ferdinand’s TNT colleague Ally McCoist said: ‘Magnificent, absolutely magnificent.

The goal – the fastest ever scored in the Champions League semi-finals – left Barcelona shellshocked
‘The flick on from Martinez, there is a long ball on the left and Martinez wins it and flicks it on and that’s where the move starts.
‘The finish itself is absolutely first class, I can’t tell you how difficult that is. It’s behind him. He lets it through, and look at that, on the half volley as it hits the ground. Beautiful.’
Inter doubled their lead shortly after thanks to Dumfries’ acrobatic finish from close range, before 17-year-old sensation Lamine Yamal pulled one back for Barcelona with a majestic solo goal.
The winner of the tie will meet either PSG or Arsenal in the final. The French giants won the first leg 1-0 at the Emirates on Tuesday.
