Bayern Munich are stepping up their pursuit of Florian Wirtz and have begun preparing their opening offer for the Bayer Leverkusen star, according to German media.
The speculation surrounding the 21-year-old’s next move is beginning to really ramp up. With Xabi Alonso having officially announced his departure from Bayer Leverkusen, major question marks loom over the future of Wirtz.
Over the past week or so, reports have stated that Wirtz has agreed personal terms with Bayern and effectively told his other suitors, Man City and Real Madrid, that he is gunning for a move to Munich.
While Alonso has dismissed this, claiming that this is not the information he has received from his protégé, it does look as though a potential transfer of the attacking midfielder to the Allianz Arena is heating up.
Bayern prepare Wirtz offer
According to BILD, Bayern are now preparing their opening offer after being encouraged by the Wirtz family’s supposed stance that a move to Bavaria is the only viable option this summer.
The German outlet claims that the first bid will clock in at around €100 million, with Bayern believing that they now have ‘leverage’ over Leverkusen due to the player’s desire to head south.

It was previously reported that Leverkusen would only entertain a sale for a fee in the region of €150m (bonuses included), with the full package to sign Wirtz clocking in at a whopping €250m.
The Germany international would be brought in line with his good friend Jamal Musiala on an annual salary of up to €25m in Munich. The wonderkid, it is claimed, has ‘promised’ Bayern that he is willing to wait for them should they fail to reach an agreement with Leverkusen.
Should no move materialise this summer, Bayern will push again for Wirtz next year, confident that they can force his cost below €100m as it would be Leverkusen’s final chance to secure a fee. Wirtz’s current deal runs until 2027, and he clearly has no intention of extending.
