Celtic ball boys taunt Rangers No1 Allan McGregor after Reo Hatate opener as Hoops cruise to Old Firm win

THE Celtic ball boys probably weren’t expecting to make the headlines following an Old Firm.

Yet after Rangers boss Gio van Bronckhorst complained about their conduct, they found themselves at the forefront of a couple of talking points.

Van Bronckhorst complained to Bobby Madden

The Dutchman was unhappy with the kids’ conduct as they delayed play by not throwing the ball back in for the visitors, before kicking the ball away at times.

That prompted ref Bobby Madden to speak to a member of the matchday staff to get the word out to the youngsters.

It wasn’t Rangers’ biggest issue of the night but it was enough to rile the boss on his dugout Old Firm debut.

But footage has shown the ball boys goading Allan McGregor after Reo Hatate’s opening goal.

The Hoops star put the hosts in front with a strike from the edge of the box.

As the TV cameras rushed away to show the new Celtic hero celebrate with the fans, one youngster in particular is loving the opportunity to let McGregor know his thoughts.

The victory saw Celts leapfrog rivals Rangers to storm to the top of the Premiership table.

And Ange beamed: “I have been pretty lucky, I have had some special experiences in my football career and tonight was right up there.

“From the moment we walked out, the wall of noise and the energy in the stadium was just outstanding.

“From my perspective the anxiety grows because I wanted to repay that and wanted the players to repay that, and they fed off the energy in the right way.

“They rose to the occasion and gave the fans the kind of performance that the supporters deserve.
