Fabrizio Romano has made a transfer announcement of vital importance for Celtic’s summer transfer window as Parkhead boss Brendan Rodgers has promised more signings.
Celtic had been linked with the €20 million sale of winger Nicolas Kuhn to Serie A side Como, but this deal appears to be on the backburner as Romano announced that Cesc Fabregas’ club have decided to move in another direction.
The football transfer news reporter has said that Como have elected to sign AZ winger Jayden Addai instead of Kuhn.
Rodgers aims for ‘freshness’ at Parkhead
Given that Kuhn finished last season with 36 goals and assists, Celtic will be quite content with this development, while Brendan Rodgers has admitted that he is seeking to add to the four new signings that he has already welcomed to the club.
The Glasgow giants have already added Ross Doohan, Kieran Tierney, Callum Osmand and Benjamin Nygren to their squad over the summer, but it appears these new faces will be added to.
“We’re not needing a major overhaul of the squad, but freshness is so important,” Rodgers said in an interview with Celtic TV. “Some of these guys have been here a long time.
“It’s so important, even in a winning squad, that you refresh that and reset the competition in the squad. We’ve done some really good business up until now. I see us doing more to get us set up for hopefully what will be a really exciting season.”
The Celtic manager is clearly hinting at potential departures as well as arrivals in Glasgow’s East End before the season begins in a month’s time.
