A Chelsea star has revealed he once spent £5,000 on a trading card of Erling Haaland.
Haaland has been a revelation since joining the Premier League nearly three years ago, scoring 84 goals to date for Manchester City in the top flight and winning two Premier League titles.
He has also won the Champions League, included in his Treble win in his first year at City, while taking home the Golden Boot in his first two years – though seemingly set to miss out this term.
Every year, meanwhile, various card companies, including the likes of Topps, bring out trading cards featuring players from the likes of the Premier League and Europe, while other cards are also brought out regularly from the world of the likes of Formula One and Star Wars.
Two particular Premier League stars – who feature on collectable cards themselves – have revealed they are keen collectors, and are willing to spend big on cards.
And it’s no difference when it comes to paying big for cards involving rivals for one Blues player – in the form of Tosin Adarabioyo.

‘It can get expensive,’ Adarabioyo said on the latest episode of Rio Ferdinand Presents. ‘Five grand [£5,000] up on one card. It was a [Topps] Erling Haaland gold card.
‘I used to collect back in the day when I was young and it was obviously the sticker albums for World Cups and Euros. Everyone loves that, it’s got that nostalgic feeling.
‘And then again post Covid I got into collecting again. Some of my friends told me to look into it so I looked and I just got that bug that you do with some things and I just really enjoyed collecting again.’
Adarabioyo, alongside Spurs’ Dominic Solanke, was speaking to Ferdinand at the opening of Fanatics Collectibles new flagship store on Regent Street, London.

The store is now open to the public following a week of opening celebrations featuring Ferdinand, Adarabioyo and Solanke, while Lewis Hamilton and many more stars from the world of sport were also present.
One of Hamilton’s cards is worth £1.1million – one lucky bidder may pick it up soon, but that’s a step too far for Adarabioyo, he admitted.
‘I would never drop money like that on a card but honestly the value in some of these cards is insane,’ he said. ‘I love ripping boxes open and to know that there’s a possibility that you could open a box and get a card worth £1.1m is insane.
‘It’s life-changing money and has amazing value and that’s one of the amazing things about this hobby.’
