Chelsea are ready to sell Wesley Fofana this summer amid significant interest from Marseille, according to reports in France.
The 24-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge from Leicester City for a whopping €80.4 million in 2022, but he has endured an injury-hit spell in west London and he will miss the remainder of the campaign with a hamstring problem.
Victor Osimhen wants to join Chelsea
In total, Fofana has missed 100 games through injury since his arrival at Chelsea and the Blues are now prepared to cut their losses this summer.
That is according to French publication Foot Mercato, who state that Enzo Maresca’s side are “seriously considering” parting ways with Fofana.
It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will sanction a loan move or a permanent departure during the 2025 summer transfer window, although clubs in Saudi Arabia may reportedly be the only ones capable of signing Fofana due to the Blues’ likely asking price.
Arsenal make SHOCK move for Chelsea flop
However, Marseille are interested in completing a loan deal for the 24-year-old, as per Foot Mercato, after attempting to sign him last summer.
Fofana, who was born in Marseille and is a boyhood fan of the club, admitted that he was close to accepting the Ligue 1 giants’ offer in 2024 and it’s understood that he would love to play for Roberto De Zerbi’s side at some point during his career.
Despite this, Marseille will reportedly be required to qualify for next season’s Champions League in order to secure Fofana’s signature, while they could be forced to pay his entire salary.

Chelsea’s summer transfer plans
Fofana is one of many Chelsea players who could be set to leave the club this summer as Clearlake Capital prepare for yet another busy transfer window after a disappointing 2024-25 campaign.
Meanwhile, the Blues are expected to sign a central defender, a left winger and a striker in order to provide Maresca with a squad capable of challenging for major honours next year.
