Alejandro Garnacho’s move from Manchester United to Chelsea is a matter of time, according to football transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.
Garnacho has long been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, with rumours first emerging of the possibility back in January.
Romano has constantly insisted this summer that a deal is going on in the background, and now he has declared that almost everything is in place to take the Argentina international player to West London.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, he declared: “Garnacho is going to Chelsea. We’re just waiting for formal steps but in my opinion, he’s going to Chelsea.
“Chelsea are still working on Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho.
“These two remain the two priority targets for Chelsea.”
The Daily Mail reports that the Blues are hopeful of signing Garnacho for just €29m (£25m) – exactly half Man Utd’s asking price at the start of the transfer window.
What happened to Garnacho at Man Utd?
Garnacho is out of the picture at Man Utd, where he is one of several players in Ruben Amorim’s so-called ‘Bomb Squad’.
With the Red Devils seeking to raise money from transfer sales – something they have entirely failed to do this summer – it has been made clear that the 21-year-old is up for sale.
The former Atletico Madrid youth has done himself few favours when it comes to mending his relationship with the club.
It became fractured in December when, along with Marcus Rashford, he was unexpectedly dropped for the Manchester derby against City.
There have been numerous incidents since then that have raised questions over Garnacho’s commitment to Man Utd. Included among these are the player’s brother slamming Amorim after the Europa League final loss to Tottenham Hotspur and Garnacho himself posting an image of himself in a Rashford Aston Villa shirt while on holiday.
Romano’s latest revelation suggests the player’s long-awaited departure is just around the corner.
