Chelsea reportedly want to offload an additional eight players before the summer transfer window slams shut on 1 September.

The Blues have been unable to sell a number of their ‘Bomb Squad’ members so far this summer, but they are now prioritising player departures after a flurry of activity saw them spend €279.7 million on new signings during the early weeks of the window.

Enzo Maresca’s first-team squad remains extremely large and Chelsea are therefore eager to reduce the number of players at the club.

According to The Telegraph, Chelsea are determined to arrange the departures – either permanently or on loan – of Raheem Sterling, Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku, Axel Disasi, Renato Veiga, Carney Chukwuemeka, Ben Chilwell and potentially Tyrique George before Deadline Day.

Chelsea’s summer transfer plan

Chelsea are eager to sell all eight aforementioned players on permanent deals, however they would be open to offloading Sterling on loan for the second consecutive season if no suitors emerge.

The 30-year-old earns a reported weekly wage of €350,000 and this is seen as a major hurdle for any interested club, which is a key reason why Chelsea have been unable to sell him so far this summer.

Meanwhile, Jackson’s representatives are “expected” to hold talks with Napoli following Romelu Lukaku’s injury, Veiga is wanted by Villarreal, and Chukwuemeka wants to rejoin Borussia Dortmund.

Nkunku, on the other hand, has been heavily linked with Bayern Munich, although the deal is at risk of collapsing as Chelsea want a permanent sale, while the reigning Bundesliga champions are currently only interested in a loan move.

George has been linked with a move to Germany too, while Disasi has suitors across world football. Chilwell, however, may prove difficult to offload for the second consecutive summer as there has been very little rumoured interest.
