Everton have completed the signing of Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

The 26-year-old’s time at Stamford Bridge has already come to an end, just a year after it began. Dewsbury-Hall was signed by the Blues from boyhood club Leicester last summer in a €35.4 million deal.

However, despite his close relationship with Enzo Maresca from his time with the Foxes, Dewsbury-Hall struggled for regular minutes at Chelsea, primarily featuring in the Conference League ‘B Team.’

His future was therefore uncertain heading into the summer, and in recent days, it became increasingly clear that Dewsbury-Hall was on the verge of a quick exit.

Everton opened talks with the Blues earlier this week and swiftly managed to agree a permanent deal for a fee in the same ballpark that Chelsea paid for him last year.

The Toffees have now already officially unveiled Dewsbury-Hall as a new signing, with the Englishman signing a five-year contract on Merseyside. The fee is believed to be in the region of €34.3m, with €29.7m guaranteed to head Chelsea’s way.

“I’m honestly very excited, my family’s excited,” Dewsbury-Hall said after joining Everton. “There’s a real buzz about this. It feels right for me. So just that alone gives me the motivation and the extra determination to show everybody, to prove a point and have a really successful time here.

“Everton’s one of the biggest clubs in the country, and I think that in the next couple of years, the future is going to be bright. It was an easy decision in the end to come here and play for this club.

“You look at the stadium – it’s incredible. Obviously, I’ve played in all of the Premier League stadiums, and this is one of, if not the most impressive, so that in itself is a major, major exciting factor for wanting to join.

“Then the fan base is one of the most passionate in the country, so I know if we start playing well and I start showing the fans what I’m about, it’s going to be a big, big bonus to help me and the team show our best. So that’s what I want.”
