AS Monaco are interested in Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, according to French media.

The Serbia international finds himself in a paradoxical position at Stamford Bridge. Petrovic is arguably Chelsea’s best goalkeeper, yet he was sent out on loan to sister club Strasbourg for the season after being deemed not suited to Enzo Maresca’s style.

Petrovic certainly played his part in the Alsatians outperforming expectations, and he was deservedly named their Player of the Season at the weekend. The goalkeeper is now set to return to Chelsea, and it has been claimed that Maresca is willing to give him a second chance.

However, whether Petrovic will still be a Blues player come the start of the new season is still up in the air. The Serb has no shortage of suitors after his impressive showings in Eastern France.

Monaco want Petrovic

Bundesliga runners-up Bayer Leverkusen have been linked with a summer move for Petrovic for a few weeks now as they are looking for a long-term replacement for veteran Lukas Hradecky.

Journalist Mohammed Toubache-Ter now adds AS Monaco to Petrovic’s list of admirers. The Principality club finished third in Ligue 1 and thus qualified for the Champions League, something Chelsea have not yet achieved.

Monaco are ready to go big in the market to bolster their side, and sporting director Thiago Scuro confirmed to GFFN that they are planning to add a new face between the sticks this summer.

“We will look to sign a goalkeeper, and it will be up to them to fight for their place. We will chase a new goalkeeper,” Scuro told the above-mentioned outlet.
