Chelsea have a new striking target in their sights, and that could benefit PSG to the tune of some €20 million.

Enzo Maresca’s side are seeking a new No.9 during the summer transfer window, with their hunt given additional urgency by the fact that Nicolas Jackson will be suspended for the opening game of the Premier League campaign next season.

The Blues were in the market for a centre-forward in any case, yet a red card for the Senegal international striker against Manchester United means that there is additional urgency required from the Stamford Bridge outfit.

One option Chelsea are now looking at is former PSG striker Hugo Ekitike, who now plays with Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 22-year-old scored 15 Bundesliga goals for the season and managed 21 overall this term, ending the campaign as one of the leading finishers in the Bundesliga according to data analytics firm SciSports. Furthermore, he is credited with an impressive 12 assists.

Indeed, his all-round game has won such acclaim that Ekitike has had a price tag of €80-100m slapped on his head, according to RMC Sport, despite his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) sitting at €57.7m.

PSG to land transfer windfall from Ekitike deal

Ekitike has a place “very high” on Chelsea’s summer shortlist, which also contains Benjamin Sesko and Victor Osimhen.

One reason for Frankfurt’s high asking price is that PSG retain a high sell-on clause for the player after selling him at a loss a year ago. Les Parisiens allowed the young forward to depart for €16.5m to the Bundesliga – €12m less than they initially paid for him.

But Luis Enrique’s side could make that up and more should Chelsea complete a deal around the figures that are being discussed.

PSG have a 20% sell-on clause for Ekitike, who has also been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool after a stellar campaign in Germany.
