Chelsea are set to complete the signing of Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens “imminently” as the Blues edge closer to a transfer agreement.

The England U21 international, who is currently with Dortmund at the Club World Cup, has agreed a seven-year contract with Chelsea and he is “fully committed” to joining Enzo Maresca’s side.

Chelsea are currently locked in talks with Borussia Dortmund over a deal for the 20-year-old and it’s believed that an agreement could be reached shortly.

Bayern Munich are also interested in signing the former Manchester City academy starlet, however Gittens has set his sights on joining Chelsea and the transfer is expected to go through.

Chelsea were eager to agree a deal for Gittens during the pre-Club World Cup transfer window, but they were unable to finalise a transfer fee with Dortmund and the move failed to materialise.

However, talks have continued between the two clubs and an agreement is now close. Chelsea’s most recent offer of €50 million was rejected by Dortmund, with the Bundesliga side holding out for a fee closer to the €60m mark.

Jamie Gittens to join Chelsea

Gittens scored 12 goals and provided five assists in 48 appearances across all competitions last season, although he fell out of favour upon the appointment of Niko Kovac in February.

Despite this, Chelsea view him as a highly-promising player and they are eager to bring him to Stamford Bridge amid their pursuit of the best young talents in world football.

Gittens will become Chelsea’s sixth signing of the summer transfer window if the Blues are able to agree a fee with Dortmund, following the arrivals of Liam Delap, Estevao Willian, Dario Essugo, Mamadou Sarr and Kendry Paez.
