Chelsea are ‘in a hurry’ to complete the signings of Mike Maignan, Hugo Ekitike and Jamie Gittens, according to a report.
The Blues are trying to get their business done early this summer due to their participation in the revamped Club World Cup. An exceptional 10-day transfer window opened on June 1 to allow clubs to bolster their squads ahead of the lucrative competition in the US.
Chelsea already have several players coming in for the Club World Cup. Kendry Paez, signed in 2023, will finally join and be assessed in pre-season before likely being moved out on loan to BlueCo affiliate Strasbourg.
On Monday, midfielder Dario Essugo was unveiled, while Chelsea are expected to complete the signings of Liam Delap and Mamadou Sarr imminently, although the former is likely to play for England at the U21 European Championship this summer.
Brazilian superstar-in-the-making Estevao will play the Club World Cup with Palmeiras before making the move to Stamford Bridge. However, Chelsea’s summer planning has far from concluded.
Chelsea want three more by Tuesday
According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea are aiming to bring in at least three more fresh faces before next Tuesday’s deadline. The Blues are currently locked in talks with Borussia Dortmund for Jamie Gittens, Eintracht Frankfurt for Hugo Ekitike and AC Milan for Mike Maignan.
It is claimed that the Stamford Bridge outfit are ‘in a hurry’ to seal these deals by June 10 and to have these players available for the Club World Cup.

The report states that Gittens and Maignan have greenlit potential moves to Chelsea. Gittens has a €60 million release clause, but the Premier League side are said to be trying to push his price down to around €42m.
A move for Maignan is more uncertain because of a significant gap in valuation between Chelsea and Milan. The Frenchman only has a year to run on his contract, so the Blues feel a fee of just €10m should be enough. The Rossoneri, on the other hand, want around €30m.
Similarly, Chelsea have major concerns about Frankfurt’s €100m asking price for Ekitike. With Delap coming in, they are not willing to go that high for Maignan’s compatriot. Frankfurt expect Ekitike to move this summer, but they are not under pressure to sell.
